Timothée Chalamet is reported to be reflecting on the outcome of the 2026 Academy Awards, where he did not win the Best Actor in a Leading Role category despite being considered a contender earlier in the race.
The award ultimately went to Michael B. Jordan for his performance in Sinners, in which he portrayed dual roles. Chalamet had been nominated for his role in Marty Supreme.
According to a source cited by journalist Rob Shuter, Chalamet believes his relationship with Kylie Jenner may have influenced how he was perceived by some voters. “Timothée thinks the Kylie relationship hurt his image with older voters,” the source said.
The same source added, “He believes the Kardashian circus cost him the Oscar.”
The claims come amid broader discussion around the actor during the awards season, including reactions to comments he made about ballet and opera.
Reports also suggested that his public appearances with Jenner drew attention during the campaign period.
Footage from inside the ceremony, referenced by E! News, led some observers to suggest that Chalamet appeared “uncomfortable” while seated with Jenner.
However, another source quoted by Shuter said Jenner does not believe she influenced the result. According to the report, she has told friends that the loss “had nothing to do with her”.
A separate source added, “Timmy’s ego is bruised,” and claimed he is currently “looking for someone to blame”.
Chalamet and Jenner have largely kept their relationship private. During a previous acceptance speech at the Critics' Choice Awards, Chalamet publicly acknowledged his partner.
“Lastly, I’ll just say thank you to my partner of three years,” he said. “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
