Netflix’s partnership with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is reportedly facing challenges, with conflicting accounts emerging about the state of their ongoing collaboration.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a high-profile deal with the streaming platform in 2020 through Archewell Productions, aiming to create scripted and unscripted content. The partnership has since produced projects including Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan, although reports suggest internal concerns have developed over time.

Sources tell Variety, tensions have grown due to what insiders described as “lackluster ratings” and communication issues. One insider claimed, “The mood in the building is ‘We’re done,’” while others alleged that interactions during meetings had “ruffled feathers”.

Additional claims suggested that senior executives, including co-chief executive Ted Sarandos and chief content officer Bela Bajaria, had become frustrated with the partnership. However, these assertions have been disputed by Netflix.

In an official response, a spokesperson said it is “absolutely inaccurate” that executives have lost confidence in the collaboration. Bela Bajaria also issued a statement, saying: “Archewell has been a thoughtful and collaborative partner, and we’ve really enjoyed working with Harry and Meghan. They’re deeply engaged in the storytelling process and bring a unique, global perspective that aligns with the kinds of impactful projects our members respond to.”

The report also referenced concerns surrounding the couple’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, suggesting that Netflix was not fully informed in advance. A spokesperson for the couple rejected this claim, stating it is “categorically false” and noting that legal counsel had overseen developments related to the deal.

Further allegations about internal dynamics between the couple were also denied, with representatives describing such claims as inaccurate.

Despite the reported tensions, Archewell Productions continues to develop new content for Netflix, including planned film adaptations of The Wedding Date and Meet Me at the Lake.
