RAWALPINDI:

Police have registered a murder case against six suspects, including a woman, in connection with the death of a young man who died after remaining in a coma on a ventilator for 19 days following a mysterious incident at a friend's house in the Ratta Amral police station area of Rawalpindi in November last year.

Another friend of the deceased had also died in the same incident.

Police have begun an investigation after registering the case against the suspects. According to the FIR, a disturbing revelation emerged that messages were mysteriously deleted from the victim's mobile phone while it was in police custody.

According to police, Jahangir Akbar stated that he is a resident of Mohanpura. He said his son Mustab had gone with his friend Jahangir to reconcile Haris with his second wife Farwa. They were present at the house of Akash and Nisha in Chowki Mohalla Ratti, where drug trafficking and immoral activities allegedly take place and the three individuals are also involved in drug use. Three unidentified persons were also present there.

He said his son Mustab remained in contact with a cousin through his mobile phone from that location. Later at night, Haris's cousin Saddam called his younger brother Amir Akbar and informed him that Haris had died at Akash's house, while Mustab had been taken to the District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122 along with a man named Ihtesham.

When the family reached the hospital, doctors informed them that the victim had been given poisonous substances to eat and drink.

Because he was not brought to the hospital in time, his condition became critical and he fell into a coma. He remained on a ventilator for 19 days before dying in the hospital on November 25, 2025.

The complainant further alleged that messages from his son's mobile phone were deleted despite the device being in police custody.

Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. A police officer, speaking to The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, said the incident appeared to involve drug consumption during a gathering.

According to him, all individuals had gathered for a party on the day of the incident where excessive drug use allegedly led to one person dying on the spot while the other later died during treatment at the hospital.

Samples were sent for forensic analysis, but the victim's family approached the court for registration of the case. Following court orders, police registered the FIR.

The forensic reports have also been received, indicating drug consumption and ingestion of substances as the cause, while further investigation is continuing.
