Cop dismissed for extortion

JARANWALA:

Sandal Bar Police Station Sub-Inspector Qamaruz Zaman Lona, who had been arrested in a kidnapping and extortion case, has been dismissed from service.

The dismissal orders were issued by Iqbal Town SP Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad. According to sources, a few weeks ago, the SI had allegedly conducted an unofficial raid during which he reportedly abducted a shopkeeper.

The policeman and his accomplices allegedly looted the victim's office and demanded Rs10 million from his family for his release.
