Disney and Pixar’s animated film Hoppers is continuing its run at the box office, with industry estimates suggesting the film will earn at least $28 million in its second weekend in cinemas.
The film earned $7.3 million on its second Friday in theatres, placing it on course for the weekend total. If confirmed, the result would represent a 38% drop from its opening weekend, when it debuted with $45.3 million.
Directed by Daniel Chong, Hoppers would reach an estimated 10-day domestic total of approximately $86 million with the latest figures. That would place it 31% ahead of the 10-day total recorded by Elemental in 2023, which had earned $65.4 million during the same timeframe.
Among new releases, Universal’s Reminders of Him has opened with solid early figures. The film earned $8 million from 3,402 locations on its opening day and is projected to reach approximately $19 million for its opening weekend. The adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel was produced on a reported budget of $25 million.
Prior to release, the film had been projected to open near the $13.6 million debut of Regretting You, another adaptation of Hoover’s work released in October.
Audience response to Reminders of Him appears stronger than the critical reception. The film currently holds a 58% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, while the audience score is 89%. It also received a B grade on CinemaScore.
A24’s horror film Undertone is expected to debut in third place with an estimated $10 million opening from 2,570 locations. The film, which centres on a paranormal podcast host who encounters a threat she can only hear, has received a C grade from CinemaScore and a 54% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Paramount and Spyglass’ Scream 7 is continuing its run with $8.9 million in its third weekend, reaching a domestic total of $107 million.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ The Bride! added $2.25 million in its second weekend, bringing its total to $11.4 million against a reported production budget of at least $80 million.
