Former NBA star Lamar Odom has opened up about his past relationship with Khloé Kardashian, admitting their divorce is something he believes he will regret for the rest of his life.
Speaking in a recent interview while discussing his upcoming documentary with Netflix, Odom reflected on how difficult it still feels to look back at their relationship years after their split.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player acknowledged that one of his biggest mistakes was stepping away from the marriage despite promising to always stand by Kardashian.
“I told God that I was going to take care of this woman and be with her forever, and I stepped out of her life,” Odom said, adding that the decision remains painful for him.

The former athlete also addressed why Kardashian appears in the documentary, noting that the decision was handled by Netflix rather than himself.
Odom and Kardashian famously married in 2009 after only a short period of dating, and their high-profile relationship was later featured in the reality series Khloé & Lamar. Their marriage drew massive public attention at the time, partly due to Odom’s career with the Los Angeles Lakers and Kardashian’s role in the globally popular show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Looking back, Odom described the relationship as genuine despite the intense media spotlight surrounding them.
“You don’t marry somebody in 30 days and then forget about it,” he said, adding that their connection was real even though their lives eventually went in different directions.
The former NBA player also reflected on the unique pressure that came with being part of the Kardashian family at the height of their fame, joking that a “Laker married to a Kardashian” meant living life as if “the red carpet was rolled out everywhere.”
Despite the heartbreak, Odom said the relationship remains one of the most memorable chapters of his life, calling it an “amazing time” that still stands out years later.
