Meghan Markle makes surprise visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Meghan Markle made a heartfelt surprise visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on March 12, spending time with young patients and supporting the hospital’s annual “Make March Matter” fundraising campaign.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, first stopped by the hospital’s Creative Oasis space, where she joined children in watercolour painting and colouring activities. Photos from the visit showed Meghan wearing a black face mask while smiling and colouring Hello Kitty pictures alongside patients and staff.

During the visit, Meghan also made time to see children who were unable to leave their hospital rooms, ensuring they could still participate in the special moment.

The visit was part of the hospital’s month-long “Make March Matter” initiative, which brings together celebrities, businesses and the wider community to raise funds for pediatric care, research and innovation. The campaign supports the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality treatment for sick and critically injured children.

This was not Meghan’s first visit to the hospital. She previously stopped by in 2024 to participate in the “Literally Healing” program, where she read children’s books to patients and helped lead STEAM-based activities tied to the stories. At the time, hospital staff said children laughed and sang as the duchess animated the books, including favourites like Rosie Revere, Engineer and Pete the Cat.

Meghan’s latest charitable outing comes as she and her husband, Prince Harry, prepare for an upcoming visit to Australia in April. The couple is expected to take part in several private, business and philanthropic engagements during the trip.

The Australian visit will also include a “Girl’s Weekend” retreat hosted alongside the Her Best Life podcast, featuring speakers and a gala dinner with Meghan. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are not expected to join the trip.
