Married at First Sight expert Mel Schilling shares heartbreaking cancer update
Mel Schilling, best known for appearing on Married at First Sight Australia, has shared a devastating update about her cancer battle, revealing that the disease has spread to her brain.
Schilling, 54, opened up about her health in an emotional social media post, explaining that doctors recently discovered the cancer had progressed despite months of treatment.
The TV personality was first diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023 after doctors found a tumor that she described as being “the size of a lemon.” The tumor was removed during surgery, and Schilling initially believed she was on the road to recovery.
During the 2025 holiday season, Schilling began experiencing severe headaches and numbness on one side of her body. Further medical tests later confirmed the cancer had spread to her brain.
She subsequently underwent radiotherapy, but the treatment did not successfully stop the disease from progressing.
In her message, Schilling shared that while the situation is incredibly difficult, she is focusing on spending time with loved ones and remaining positive despite the diagnosis.
Schilling has been a familiar face to viewers of Married at First Sight Australia for years, offering relationship advice and guidance to couples on the show.
Following her announcement, fans and colleagues flooded social media with messages of support for the television expert and her family.
