More than 3,000 police officers and personnel will perform security and traffic duties under a comprehensive plan prepared by the administration for the last 10 days of Ramazan.
The plan includes special security and traffic arrangements at commercial centres, particularly during iftar and Taraweeh hours in densely populated areas, as well as at other important and sensitive locations across Peshawar.
Special police pickets are being established in the Cantt City, Faqirabad, Meena Bazaar and Ramdas areas so that issues faced by women and other citizens visiting markets for shopping can be addressed immediately.
Police patrols across the city have been significantly increased. Armoured vehicles, the Ababeel Squad, the City Patrolling Force, the traffic police and additional Special Riders Squads are continuously patrolling major highways.
According to the plan, 1,076 police personnel have been deployed at mosques during Taraweeh prayers.
