RAWALPINDI:

The District Judiciary Rawalpindi has approved a series of development projects aimed at improving facilities for judges, lawyers and litigants across the Judicial Complex Rawalpindi and six tehsils of the district - Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Kotli Sattian, Murree and Taxila.

The projects would be supervised by the District & Sessions Judge Nasir Hussain.

The approved initiatives include the establishment of seven state-of-the-art e-libraries to facilitate case preparation for judges and lawyers; the upgrading and refurbishment of bar rooms for male and female lawyers in all six tehsils; and the construction of shaded, well-ventilated waiting areas to protect female litigants from heat and rain at the district courts and across the six tehsils.

In addition, dedicated client–lawyer consultation and waiting rooms will be set up, while solar energy systems will be installed. Solar panels will be fitted in the ladies' and gents' washrooms of the district and tehsil court complexes.

The total estimated cost of the projects stands at Rs62.353 million, and the funds have already been released.

The e-libraries will be established at the courts in Rawalpindi, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan and Taxila.
