The first trailer for Guy Ritchie's action-thriller In the Grey has arrived, showcasing the director's signature blend of sharp editing, explosive set pieces and attitude.
Black Bear will release the film on May 15, 2026.
The film follows a covert team of elite operatives assigned to steal back a billion-dollar fortune from a ruthless despot. According to the official synopsis, what begins as an impossible heist quickly escalates into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.
In the Grey marks Ritchie's second collaboration with Gyllenhaal following 2023's The Covenant. The film also reunites the director with Cavill, who previously starred in 2024's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
The project was first announced in 2023 and completed production later that year after receiving an interim agreement allowing actors to work during the SAG-AFTRA strike. Lionsgate originally acquired the film and scheduled it for an early 2025 release but later pulled it from the calendar as post-production continued. Black Bear subsequently reclaimed U.S. distribution rights for its newly launched distribution arm, with Lionsgate retaining digital and pay-TV rights.
Producers include John Friedberg, Dave Caplan, Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson. The film arrives during a prolific period for the director, who has multiple projects in various stages of release and production. His recent work includes Fountain of Youth, the series MobLand and Young Sherlock, with Wife and Dog awaiting release and Viva La Madness currently in production.
In the Grey opens in theaters nationwide on May 15.
