Quentin Tarantino is expanding his creative ambitions beyond film, with the acclaimed director now developing an original stage play aimed at London’s West End.
According to reports, Tarantino has written an “old-fashioned British farce” that he hopes to stage in the famous theater district, marking the first time the filmmaker has created a full theatrical production for the stage.
The project represents a new direction for the Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood director, whose work has primarily focused on film and screenwriting throughout his career. If it moves forward as planned, the play could potentially open as early as next fall, though development is still ongoing.
Sources say the script is not based on any of Tarantino’s previous movies. Instead, it will follow the style of classic British stage comedies, often referred to as “farce”, known for fast-paced humor, mistaken identities and chaotic situations unfolding on stage.
The production would also mark Tarantino’s directorial return after several years away from filmmaking. His last movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was released in 2019 and starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.
Tarantino has long spoken about his interest in exploring different storytelling formats beyond movies. If the West End project moves forward successfully, it could represent the director’s first major venture into live theater — and potentially open the door for further stage work in the future.
The filmmaker has also previously suggested he plans to retire from directing after making 10 films, meaning the stage production could arrive during a transitional period in his career as he experiments with new creative outlets.
