Sam Asghari reacts to ex-wife Britney Spears' DUI arrest

Sam Asghari is weighing in after his ex-wife Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence earlier this week.

Spears, 44, was taken into custody in Ventura, California, on March 4 after authorities reportedly observed her driving erratically at a high speed. Officers said the singer showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop and she was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol. She was released from custody the following morning while the investigation continues.

Asghari, 32, addressed the situation during a press appearance when he was asked about Spears’ arrest. The actor and model said he didn’t want to dwell on the situation but stressed that people deserve understanding and privacy.

“I cannot skip the past,” Asghari said, adding that “everybody makes mistakes, and everybody deserves privacy.” He also suggested that intense media coverage can be harmful to someone trying to recover from a difficult situation.

Spears and Asghari first met in 2016 while filming the music video for her song “Slumber Party.” After several years of dating, the couple married in June 2022 in a star-studded ceremony at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. However, the marriage was short-lived, and Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.

Despite their split, Asghari has previously spoken positively about his relationship with the pop star and has avoided criticizing her publicly. His comments following the arrest appeared to continue that approach, emphasizing compassion rather than judgment.
