Dove Cameron shuts down long-running ‘Liv & Maddie’ casting theory

Dove Cameron is finally addressing a long-standing fan theory about her Disney Channel series Liv & Maddie.
During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast hosted by Amanda Hirsch, Cameron responded to claims that she “stole” the roles from real twins who could have been cast instead.

“I’ve seen people say I stole this role from two twins,” Cameron said, noting she had often wanted to respond to the rumor but never publicly addressed it until now.
Cameron portrayed both Liv and Maddie Rooney on the Disney Channel series from 2013 to 2017, earning a Daytime Emmy for her dual performance.
