Father, son among three killed in clashes

Three people, including a father and his son, were killed while another person was injured in two separate incidents reported in Gujrat district, police said on Friday.
According to details, the first incident occurred in Jalalpur Jattan where a dispute erupted during a game at a snooker club.
Residents of Mohalla Kashmir Nagar, Raja Hasan and his cousin Raja Naqqash, were allegedly attacked by Namir Khawar and Sameer Matloob along with their accomplices.
The suspects reportedly stabbed the victims repeatedly with knives, leaving them critically injured before fleeing the scene while issuing threats. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
Due to his critical condition, Raja Hasan was referred to Lahore but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Jalalpur Jattan City Police registered a case under sections 324, 148, 149 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased's brother, Arbaz Iqbal, against two nominated suspects and eight unidentified accomplices. In another incident reported from Mangowal, armed assailants barged into a house and opened fire, killing 65-year-old Mehmood Ahmed and his 32-year-old son Aftab Shani, a police constable.
The attackers fled the scene while firing in the air.
Police said that Constable Aftab had a recent altercation with a man identified as Wajid alias Wajahat Shah, a resident of Kunjah.
The suspect, along with two accomplices, allegedly stormed the house and started firing. Mehmood Ahmed was caught in the crossfire, and when Aftab attempted to protect his father, the attackers shot him as well.
Police registered a double murder case (No. 77/26) under sections 302, 454, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victims' relative Basharat Ahmed.
The bodies were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem examination, while police have launched a search for the suspects.
Meanwhile, three people, including two brothers and a woman, were killed while a man was injured in two separate traffic accidents in Gujrat.
According to details, an 80-year-old woman, Sughra Bibi, died after sustaining serious injuries in a collision between a car and a motorcycle near the Passport Office on GT Road. Her 52-year-old son, Azeem Baig, a resident of Budhay Wala Khoh in Gujrat, was also injured in the accident.
In another incident in Lalamusa, a car coming from Rawalpindi suffered a tyre burst, lost control, crossed the divider and collided with two vehicles coming from the opposite direction. As a result, two young men, 22-year-old Rameez and 27-year-old Shiraz, were critically injured.
Rescue teams shifted them to the hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries despite resuscitation efforts. According to Rescue officials, the deceased were real brothers.
