8 dead in Balochistan shootings, road crash

A college lecturer is said to be among the victims

At least eight people, including a university lecturer, lost their lives in a series of targeted shootings and a deadly road collision in different districts of Balochistan, while four others sustained injuries, police and officials reported.

In Kech district, three separate firing incidents claimed three lives in the areas of Konshkalat Tump, Dhank, and Shapak. Unidentified armed assailants opened fire, killing Muhammad Jan, Sanaullah, and Hatim at a shop in Shapak. Police shifted the bodies to hospital for postmortem and handed them over to heirs after legal formalities. Cases have been registered, and investigations are underway into all three incidents.

In Jhal Magsi district, a clash between two groups of the same tribe in the Goth Daro Khosa area of Union Council Panjak resulted in the deaths of three individuals: Abdul Haq Khosa, Ali Muhammad Khosa, and Qale Bakhsh Khosa. According to police, the confrontation stemmed from a long-standing enmity between the groups.

A traffic accident on the Makran Coastal Highway near the Nakhli area claimed one life when a car collided with a truck. Allah Bakhsh died in the crash, while three others were injured and shifted to hospital for treatment.

In Kharan district, armed men opened fire outside the sub-campus of the University of Balochistan, killing lecturer Dilawar Khan on the spot. Another individual, Bilal Ahmed, was seriously wounded and taken to a medical facility.

Police have registered cases in connection with the shootings and are conducting further investigations. Authorities have not yet identified the attackers in most incidents, and motives remain under probe.

These incidents add to the ongoing challenges of law and order and road safety in the province.
