Amazon Prime Video has released the blood-soaked trailer for the fifth and final season of "The Boys," revealing Homelander's reign from the White House and the return of Billy Butcher with a world-altering plan.

The superhero drama will begin its farewell season on April 8 with the premiere of its first two episodes. The series finale is scheduled to drop on May 20, bringing the hit show to its climactic conclusion.

According to the official logline, the final season finds the world completely subject to Homelander's "erratic, egomaniacal whims." Following the Season 4 finale, which saw the U.S. president enact martial law and place Homelander effectively in charge of the country, the surviving members of The Boys are scattered and imprisoned.

Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie are held in a so-called "Freedom Camp," while Annie struggles to mount a resistance against overwhelming Supe forces. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears—willing to use a virus capable of wiping all Supes off the map—he "sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it."

The trailer showcases Homelander's quest for immortality as he consolidates power from the Oval Office, alongside intense footage of the captured team members and Butcher's dangerous new direction.

The final season brings back the core cast including Karl Urban as Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Antony Starr as Homelander, and Erin Moriarty as Annie/Starlight. They are joined by Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and newcomers including Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

Eric Kripke serves as showrunner and executive producer, with the series based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic books. The extensive producing team includes Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Neal H. Moritz.
