'The Bear' to end with season 5 on FX and Hulu

'The Bear' will conclude with fifth season on FX and Hulu, with filming underway in Chicago ahead of 2026 release

The Bear is set to conclude with its upcoming fifth season on FX, which will stream on Hulu.

The series is currently filming in and around Chicago and is expected to debut later this year. Previous seasons of the show have been released as binge drops in late June.

Actor Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed the show’s ending during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. Curtis, who won an Emmy for her recurring role as the mother of Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, and Natalie, played by Abby Elliott, addressed speculation about the future of the series following a February social media post.

“It is the end of the show,” she said in response to speculation about a Feb. 17 Instagram post in which she referenced “completing the story” of The Bear. “Everybody knows it’s the end of the show. I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show — they’ve said it from the beginning.” FX declined to comment on the statement.

Discussion about the show’s eventual conclusion has circulated for some time. Jeremy Allen White previously said that creator Christopher Storer initially envisioned a four-season story arc for the series.

The fourth season ended with an episode titled “Goodbye”, which saw Carmy decide to step away from both his restaurant and the culinary industry. FX renewed The Bear for a fifth season in July 2025, about a week after the fourth season premiered.

During its first three seasons, the series won 21 Emmy Awards. These included the award for best comedy series in 2023, when the show received 10 Emmys overall.

Acting awards were also given to White, Curtis, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas and Jon Bernthal. Season four will be eligible for the 2026 Emmy Awards in September.
