Singer Pink responded with humour after Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim mistakenly confused her with Kelly Clarkson during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Kim was guest-hosting the programme on March 3 while Pink appeared as a guest. During the interview, the 25-year-old athlete said she wanted to make a confession about being a fan of Pink’s music.
“Growing up, when I was like, 12, 13, I loved listening to your music,” Kim told the singer before attempting to sing the chorus of the song “Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)”.
Pink quickly pointed out that the track was not part of her catalogue. “That’s Kelly Clarkson,” she said with a laugh. “But that’s fine ‘cause I’m Kelly Clarkson today.”
Kim immediately realised the mistake and apologised repeatedly, appearing embarrassed by the mix-up. “Oh, I’m sorry. Oh my gosh,” she said. “Wait guys, I’m so embarrassed. I’m so sorry.”
She then mentioned other songs she enjoys, including Pink’s track “F---kin' Perfect”, while explaining the circumstances behind the confusion.
“I took a nap before I came on here today and I literally woke up five minutes ago,” Kim said. “But no, I love your music. I do.”
Pink laughed at the moment and leaned over to hug the snowboarder, reassuring her following the exchange.
The singer has been guest-hosting the programme during the week while Clarkson prepares to conclude her daytime talk show after seven seasons. Speculation among viewers suggested Pink might take over the show permanently, particularly after she and her family relocated to New York.
Pink addressed those rumours in a video shared on Instagram. "Hi everybody. Just in a continuation of debunking all of the sources that we've got going on in the world," she said, "I'm not taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show."
The singer also explained that her family’s move to New York was linked to her daughter Willow’s interest in theatre.
