‘Life Is Strange’ adaptation finds leads in Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins as Chloe and Max
The upcoming Life Is Strange adaptation has officially found its leads, with Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins cast as Chloe and Max, respectively. The show, produced by Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap, was first reported in September 2025 and is set to bring the beloved video game franchise to life on Amazon Prime Video.
According to the official synopsis, Max, played by Hopkins, is a photography student who discovers she can rewind time while saving the life of her childhood best friend, Chloe, portrayed by Stella. The pair then become embroiled in a mystery involving a missing student, uncovering dark secrets in their town that will force life-or-death decisions with lasting consequences.
Hopkins is making her television debut, having primarily worked on stage, including roles in Broadway productions such as The Queen of Versailles and For the Girls. She also starred in the short film Meek, which premiered at the Montclair Film Festival in 2024. Stella, meanwhile, is a musician with a growing acting resume, including a six-season role on ABC’s Nashville and appearances in films such as My Old Ass and Poetic License. She is also set to appear alongside Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in Flowervale Street later this year.
The series is being written by Charlie Covell, who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson under Story Kitchen. Amazon MGM Studios is also producing.
This TV adaptation arrives as the Life Is Strange franchise continues to grow. The original game, released in 2015, was critically acclaimed and has since reached over 20 million players. Its sequels, prequels, and spin-offs, including Before the Storm, Life Is Strange 2, True Colors, and Double Exposure, have cemented its status as one of the most influential story-driven video game series of the past decade.
The series promises to explore the signature emotional depth and supernatural intrigue that fans love, while introducing Chloe and Max to a wider television audience.
