A chaotic scene unfolded at the grand opening of a new Marathon Burger location in downtown Long Beach when shots were fired during the event honoring the legacy of late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
The incident occurred Sunday around 3:30 pm PT as attendees gathered for the launch. Video circulating online shows law enforcement officers detaining at least one individual and placing them into a police vehicle following the disturbance.

Authorities have not immediately confirmed the circumstances that led to the gunfire or whether anyone was injured.
Several high-profile guests attended the opening earlier in the day, including Snoop Dogg and YG, though both reportedly left before the shooting began.
Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, was present at the event. The opening followed a weekend of tributes, including the renaming of an intersection in Los Angeles to “Nipsey Hussle Square,” an event attended by Blacc Sam, longtime partner Lauren London, and close friends.
Nipsey Hussle was tragically shot and killed outside his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. His Marathon brand continues to expand as part of efforts to preserve his entrepreneurial and community-driven legacy.
