Harrison Ford was honoured with the Life Achievement Award at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards, recognising a screen career spanning more than six decades.

The ceremony, formerly known as the SAG-AFTRA Awards, took place in Los Angeles and streamed live on Netflix. Ford, a two-time nominee, accepted his first award from the guild.

He had previously been nominated in 2025 for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Shrinking.

Woody Harrelson presented the award, opening his speech with a series of jokes about being asked to step in after others were unavailable. He described Ford as “a true Renaissance man, an iconic actor, a distinguished pilot and a master carpenter who built his own home.”

Ford, known for roles including Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, addressed the audience with a reflective speech. “I feel incredibly grateful for this kind attention, but to be clear, I’m also quite humbled,” he said.

“I’m in a room of actors, many of whom are here because they’ve been nominated to receive a prize for their amazing work. Well, I’m here to receive a prize for being alive.”

He thanked several individuals he credited with shaping his career, including George Lucas, Stephen Spielberg, casting director Fred Roos and his former manager Patricia McQueeney.

Ford concluded with characteristic dry humour, saying, “And thank you to SAG-AFTRA for honoring me with this prize. This is very encouraging.”

The Life Achievement Award places Ford among past recipients including Mary Tyler Moore, Sidney Poitier and Robert De Niro. In light of the recognition, he continues to work in film and television, most recently appearing in Shrinking.
