Jim Carrey has been making headlines since his appearance at the 51st César Awards held at L’Olympia in Paris on February 26, 2026.

The actor received an Honorary Prize and delivered his acceptance speech entirely in French, where he also publicly acknowledged his girlfriend, Min Ah, also known as Minzi.

While the romantic moment drew attention, it was Carrey’s dramatically refreshed look that quickly became the biggest talking point online.

Many social media users claimed the 64-year-old star appeared significantly younger and almost unrecognisable compared to his previous public outings. Side-by-side photos began circulating, prompting widespread speculation about possible cosmetic procedures.

Triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Raffi Hovsepian shared his professional opinion, noting that the most noticeable change appeared in Carrey’s midface and cheek area.

He suggested the added fullness could be due to hyaluronic acid fillers or temporary swelling from recent volumising treatments. At the same time, he explained that softening along the jawline and mild hollowing around the eyes are common signs of natural structural ageing in men in their 60s.

Dr. Hovsepian emphasised that Carrey’s face still moves naturally and retains its distinctive character, which suggests that if any cosmetic work was done, it was likely conservative rather than extreme. He added that preserving expression is a key principle in male aesthetics, and overly aggressive procedures would typically affect facial movement.

The surgeon also addressed rumours of blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, stating that he did not see clear evidence of the procedure. Instead, he attributed the changes around the eyes to natural volume loss and dermal thinning.

However, other Beverly Hills-based surgeons have offered differing opinions, suggesting that tighter skin around the eyes, a smoother brow, and a more defined jawline could indicate subtle facial rejuvenation treatments.

None of these claims have been confirmed by Carrey himself.

In addition to the cosmetic debate, Carrey’s longer jet-black hairstyle, polished all-black tuxedo, and seemingly lighter eye colour, possibly achieved with contact lenses, added to the perception of transformation.

His fluent French speech referencing his ancestral ties to Saint-Malo further fueled online reactions, with some social media users even advancing exaggerated “clone” theories.

Jim Carrey has not responded to the speculation, but his César Awards appearance has once again highlighted the intense scrutiny celebrities face whenever their appearance changes.
