Apple TV has confirmed that Paul Wesley will join the cast of The Buccaneers for its upcoming third season, playing a new character named Frank.

Described as a “mysterious but charming stranger,” Frank enters the lives of Nan and Mrs. St. George, bringing intrigue and disruption to the already tense world of 1870s London high society.

The series, inspired by the unfinished final novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton, follows a group of ambitious American women navigating social, romantic, and political challenges in London. Season 1 explored cultural clashes, while Season 2 focused on heartbreak, motherhood, jealousy, and legal battles. Season 3 promises further drama, now heightened with the introduction of Wesley’s Frank.

Apple TV’s official announcement hints that Frank’s arrival coincides with upheaval at Tintagel, where a new Duke threatens the Buccaneers’ social standing. Wesley, known for his roles in The Vampire Diaries and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, brings experience in playing layered, complex characters, making him a fitting addition to the emotionally charged series.

Season 3 will continue under creator Katherine Jakeways, with Rachel Leiterman and Amy Neil directing. The show maintains its signature combination of lavish period aesthetics and contemporary storytelling, which has been a key factor in its critical and audience success.

The first two seasons of The Buccaneers are currently streaming on Apple TV, giving fans an opportunity to catch up and speculate on Frank’s motives. Whether Wesley’s character will serve as an ally, romantic interest, or disruptor remains under wraps, but his involvement signals significant twists for the upcoming season.
