Actor Shia LaBeouf has been ordered by a New Orleans judge to enter substance abuse treatment and submit to regular drug and alcohol testing following his arrest earlier this month during Mardi Gras celebrations in the city’s French Quarter.

The incident occurred on February 17, when LaBeouf was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two men during a disturbance outside a bar. Authorities allege that the actor struck the individuals with his fists and used homophobic slurs during the altercation. He was later charged with two counts of simple battery.

In court, the 39-year-old agreed to updated bail conditions, which include posting a $100,000 bond, attending treatment, and undergoing weekly testing. A judge also ordered him to stay away from the alleged victims and the location of the incident, citing concerns about public safety and his handling of alcohol use.

Police reports indicate LaBeouf was asked to leave the bar after causing a disturbance but returned and allegedly became more aggressive, striking one of the victims multiple times and injuring another. He was restrained by bystanders before authorities arrived and later transported to a hospital prior to being taken into custody.

The judge also denied a request for LaBeouf to travel internationally while the case is ongoing, and his next court appearance is scheduled for March. The actor has not yet formally entered a plea to the charges.

The latest arrest adds to a history of legal issues and controversies for LaBeouf, who has previously sought treatment for alcohol-related incidents and public altercations.
