FM Dar briefs Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt on Pakistan's 'befitting' response to Taliban aggression
Saudi, Qatar attempting to de-escalate Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar briefed his Saudi, Turkish and Egyptian counterparts on Friday about Pakistan's "befitting" response to aggression by the Afghan Taliban and the justified the use of military force against the neighbour.
Pakistani forces targeted key military installations of the Afghan Taliban regime in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia through effective airstrikes, early on Friday. The military spokesperson said the ongoing ‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’ against the Afghan Taliban was producing the desired results and continued successfully.
He said Pakistan had “effectively repulsed” Afghan Taliban insurgents at 53 locations along the border, inflicting heavy losses while exercising restraint to avoid civilian harm.
In his statement earlier today on the situation, the foreign minister said the people and armed forces stood together as "steadfast guardians" of the country's sovereignty, dignity and security. "Together, we are resolute in our commitment for a peaceful, prosperous and secure Pakistan," he added.

Separately, a source with knowledge of the talks told AFP today that Saudi Arabia and Qatar were engaged in efforts to halt the deadly fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The diplomatic drive comes as fears of a spiralling conflict grew.
"Saudi Arabia, in coordination with Qatar, is making efforts to reduce tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan," said the source, requesting anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.
The goal is to "de-escalate the situation and prevent it from spiralling out of control", they added.
Acting Afghan foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi called Qatar's chief negotiator Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Doha said.
"Riyadh and Doha have been in contact at the highest levels with both sides, and we hope the confrontation will end as soon as possible," the source added.
