Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s son Maddox makes name change official in film debut
Maddox Jolie drops ‘Pitt’ from film credits a decade after parents’ split

A decade after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt parted ways, their eldest son is making a quiet but notable change.
Maddox Jolie, 24, is now credited without “Pitt” in the film Couture, where he worked as an assistant director. According to People, the updated name also appears in the movie’s official production notes distributed at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
Born Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, he is now professionally listed as Maddox Jolie.
Couture, which premiered in French theaters on Feb. 18, stars Angelina as an American director diagnosed with breast cancer ahead of a trip to Paris. Representatives for Brad have not publicly commented on the name change.
Maddox is one of six children the former couple share. They are also parents to Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne. In recent years, several of the siblings have opted to drop “Pitt” publicly or legally.
Zahara introduced herself without the surname during her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction at Spelman College in 2023. Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders in 2024. That same year, Shiloh legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing paperwork on her 18th birthday.
The move mirrors decisions made by both parents earlier in life. Angelina was born Angelina Jolie Voight before removing her father Jon Voight’s last name professionally. Brad, whose legal name is William Bradley Pitt, adopted his middle name when he began his acting career.
While the Jolie-Pitt children have taken on creative roles, Angelina has said they are not interested in fame itself. At the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, she shared that none of her kids are eager to be on screen and that they “really don’t like any of the celebrity part of it.”
With his latest credit, Maddox appears to be stepping further into adulthood — and shaping his own identity within the film industry.
