DIJKOT:

A one-and-a-half-year-old girl, Zahra Fatima, died under mysterious circumstances after suffering a head injury during a quarrel between her parents in the 65-RB area.

According to police, the incident occurred at Sehri time. Adnan threw a steel mug at his wife, Ayesha Bibi, during an argument. The mug missed her and hit their daughter, leaving the child critically injured. She later succumbed to her injuries.

Police took the body into custody, and initiated legal proceedings. However, Balochni SHO Adeel Mustafa stated that there were no visible signs of injury on the child's head. Ayesha accused her husband of causing her daughter's death.

The couple had been married in September last year through a local panchayat involving community elders. The police said domestic disputes between them were frequent.

A village dispenser, Shahid Mahmood, said Zahra had been treated for pneumonia five days earlier after having been brought in by her mother and grandmother.

The police said the post-mortem report was awaited.
