‘Mortal Kombat II’ drops another trailer ahead of May release
Fans of the iconic fighting franchise have a new reason to get hyped as the second official trailer for Mortal Kombat II drops, giving another glimpse into the high-stakes, gory action of the upcoming sequel. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the film reunites fan-favourite champions, including Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban, as they battle the dark rule of Shao Kahn, threatening Earthrealm itself.
The new trailer ramps up the intensity, featuring an ensemble cast of Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion. Audiences can expect the same graphic fight sequences and brutal choreography that defined the 2021 hit.
McQuoid returns with a skilled crew including director of photography Stephen F. Windon, production designer Yohei Taneda, editor Stuart Levy, and costume designer Cappi Ireland, while composer Benjamin Wallfisch provides the score. The screenplay is by Jeremy Slater, inspired by the legendary video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, with producers Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, and McQuoid, and executive producers Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, Ed Boon, and Lawrence Kasanoff.
Set for a worldwide release in IMAX and theatres, Mortal Kombat II will hit international screens on May 6, 2026, and North America on May 8. The second trailer promises more epic battles, returning fan favourites, and brutal cinematic action, cementing the film as a must-watch for franchise fans and newcomers alike.
