‘Back to the Future’ actor Crispin Glover sued for battery, fraud and emotional distress
Crispin Glover is being sued by a former partner who alleges battery, fraudulent promises, wrongful eviction and more

Crispin Glover, best known for his role as George McFly in Back to the Future, is facing a high-profile civil lawsuit that accuses him of battery, fraud, emotional distress and additional claims, according to court documents and media reports. The complaint was filed by an unidentified former girlfriend referred to in the filing as ‘Jane Doe’.
The lawsuit, filed in California’s Superior Court, alleges a series of serious allegations beginning with claims that Glover lured the woman from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles with promises of housing and work as his assistant. The complaint says she became financially and socially dependent after relocating in early 2024, only to find herself in a situation she describes as controlling and exploitative.
Among the accusations, Jane Doe claims Glover physically assaulted her when she attempted to retrieve her belongings from his home after he allegedly locked her out, leaving visible injuries. The lawsuit also alleges that he wrongfully evicted her without notice, rendering her homeless and filed a restraining order and police report that she says damaged her reputation and career. She is seeking a jury trial and monetary damages for the harm she says she suffered.
In addition to battery and wrongful eviction, the complaint includes claims of fraud, malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of California’s civil rights law known as the Bane Act. The accusations depict a long-running and increasingly troubling situation that the plaintiff says began years earlier and culminated in the events of 2024.
Glover’s representatives have strongly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless” and asserting that he was instead the victim of an assault at his residence. They maintain they will “vigorously defend” him in court and seek to expose the lawsuit as meritless. According to the actor’s account relayed to TMZ, police investigated an incident at his home in March 2024 in which the plaintiff was arrested following a confrontation.
The case is ongoing, and as civil litigation it has not been tested in court. Glover, who has had a decades-long career in film and television beyond Back to the Future, including roles in projects like Charlie’s Angels and American Gods, will likely face significant public scrutiny as the proceedings unfold.
