June Squibb joins Yellowjackets season four as series prepares for final chapter

June Squibb added to Yellowjackets final season cast as Showtime series approaches conclusion

Veteran actress June Squibb has been cast in the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets, according to a report by Deadline. Specific details about her role have not yet been disclosed.

The critically acclaimed Showtime series, created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, follows a group of high school soccer players who survive a plane crash in a remote northern wilderness. Blending elements of psychological horror, survival drama and coming-of-age storytelling, the show alternates between the characters’ time stranded in the wilderness and their lives decades later, highlighting the long-term consequences of their ordeal.

Squibb joins an ensemble cast that includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher and Courtney Eaton. As previously reported, Nia Sondaya has been promoted to a series regular for the final season, while Molly Ringwald is also set to appear in a recurring role.

Produced by Lionsgate Television and Creative Engine, the series has built a strong following for its layered narrative and character-driven storytelling. Executive producers for the upcoming season include Lyle, Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco, among others. Distribution is handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Squibb brings decades of experience across film and television to the project. She is widely recognized for her role in the film Nebraska, directed by Alexander Payne, which earned her nominations at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Her extensive filmography also includes appearances in major productions such as Inside Out 2, Palm Springs and Toy Story 4.

On television, Squibb has appeared in numerous well-known series, including The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy and Shameless, demonstrating her versatility across genres.

Her addition to Yellowjackets comes as the series prepares to conclude its storyline, which has explored themes of survival, trauma and identity since its debut. While plot details for the final season remain under wraps, the inclusion of established performers like Squibb suggests a continued emphasis on character depth as the narrative reaches its conclusion.

The final season is expected to further explore unresolved storylines and the lingering impact of the characters’ shared past, bringing the series to a definitive close, as reported by Deadline.
