RAWALPINDI:

Police have solved the blind murder of a 43-year-old married woman, a mother of eight, whose body was found in the Gujar Khan area of Rawalpindi, arresting the principal suspect who initially got acquainted with the victim through TikTok and later developed 'relationship'.

The deceased, identified as Naumana Afzal, a resident of Lakki Marwat, was found dead by the roadside near a private college in Gujar Khan a few days ago. Rawalpindi City Police Officer Khalid Mehmood Hamdani took notice of the incident and directed Saddar SP Anum Sher and Gujar Khan ASP Daniyal Kazmi to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.

Acting on these instructions, Gujar Khan SHO Tayyab Baig, along with the head of the Homicide Investigation Unit, Chaudhry Arsalan, traced and apprehended the main accused.

According to police sources, the case stemmed from a relationship initiated on social media platform TikTok between the victim and a 32-year-old married man, Adnan Akhtar, who had been residing in Malaysia. Their online acquaintance reportedly developed into an intimate relationship over time.

Investigators revealed that Akhtar frequently solicited money from the victim. He was subsequently deported from Malaysia over alleged illegal activities and returned to Pakistan, after which he continued to receive financial assistance from her. Police said he would travel from his native Gujar Khan to Lakki Marwat to meet her, and the relationship deepened.

As the relationship progressed, Naumana Afzal allegedly began pressing Akhtar to divorce his first wife and marry her. During their meetings, he continued to extract money from her for personal expenses.
