Hilary Duff slams Ashley Tisdale’s toxic mom group narrative
Hilary Duff denies Ashley Tisdale’s toxic mom group claims, calling the essay “not true” in interview

Hilary Duff has once again denied claims made by Ashley Tisdale regarding an alleged “toxic mom group,” calling the accusations “not true” during a recent podcast appearance.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast on February 25, Hilary Duff addressed Ashley Tisdale’s viral essay titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” which described feelings of exclusion within a circle of celebrity mothers. While Tisdale did not directly name Duff in the essay, online speculation linked the group to Duff and other well-known figures.
Duff said she felt “really sad” after reading the piece and described being “taken aback” by what she characterized as inaccurate portrayals. She added that the timing of the essay’s release “felt not great” and said she felt “used.”
The actress also referenced her husband, musician Matthew Koma, who publicly defended her on social media following the controversy. Duff noted that she does not censor his posts and described him as supportive.
Earlier this month, Duff addressed the situation in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, stating that she is accustomed to public scrutiny due to growing up in Hollywood. She explained that social media has intensified speculation and misinformation surrounding celebrity friendships and school communities.
Mandy Moore, who has been rumored to be part of the same circle of mothers, voiced support for Duff in a recent Glamour interview, praising the values and friendships she has formed since becoming a parent.
The discussion comes as Duff promotes her new album, “Luck…or Something,” released on February 20. Neither Duff nor Tisdale has indicated plans for further public comment on the matter.
