Marvel’s Wolverine is set to launch on September 15 2026, with Insomniac Games confirming new details following its recent State of Play showcase.
Originally revealed in 2021, the PlayStation 5 exclusive received its first extended look in years during the September 2025 State of Play.
The updated release date places the game firmly in autumn 2026, ahead of other major launches later in the year. There has been no confirmation of a PC version or additional platforms.
The project follows Insomniac’s work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2023, shifting focus from web-slinging to a darker story centred on Logan.
Early footage in 2021 showed the character in the aftermath of a bar fight, with references that long-time Marvel fans linked to Madripoor and The Princess Bar. The 2025 trailer introduced more action sequences and confirmed the appearance of Mystique, a well-known X-Men character.
Insomniac has stated that Marvel’s Wolverine will feature a standalone story. While it may exist in the same universe as the studio’s Spider-Man titles, it is not designed as a crossover.
A brief synopsis indicates that the narrative will follow an older Logan searching for answers about his past, aiming to “cut through the mystery of the man he used to be”.
Although raw gameplay footage has not yet been shown, trailers suggest close-quarters combat focused on claw attacks and counter moves, alongside more grounded environments. Scenes include Logan riding a motorcycle and engaging in intense fight sequences.
Development leadership shifted in 2024 to Marcus Smith and Mike Daly. Despite earlier leaked materials in 2023, Insomniac clarified they did not reflect the final product. Further gameplay details are expected in spring 2026.
