Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner.

The 32-year-old entered his plea during an arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court and is being held without bail. Prosecutors allege he fatally stabbed his father, 78, and mother, 70, inside their Brentwood home in December 2025. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive.

Despite the formal charges and plea, a key element of the case remains unresolved: the autopsy reports for both victims have not yet been completed.

The pending medical findings leave important forensic details, including finalized determinations on cause and manner of death, outside the public record for now.

Reiner faces special circumstance allegations, including the use of a knife, and could face life in prison without parole if convicted. Prosecutors have not confirmed whether they intend to seek the death penalty.

A preliminary hearing is expected in the coming weeks, where a judge will determine whether sufficient evidence exists for the case to proceed to trial.

Until the autopsy findings are finalized and additional court filings are made public, many of the case’s central factual questions remain unanswered.
