The post came shortly after The Cut published an article addressing Manon’s hiatus and the abuse and racism faced by Black members in girl groups. Fans had also previously observed Manon liking and unliking posts that referenced alleged label mistreatment.
The activity has intensified speculation among fans that KATSEYE members may be restricted from speaking openly about Manon’s situation due to contractual obligations and non-disclosure agreements.
On February 21, Manon’s withdrawal from group activities was formally confirmed. The singer later addressed supporters via Weverse, confirming she would pause promotions to focus on her health. She wrote, “Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me,” and, “I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again.” She reassured fans that she is “healthy” and “taking care of myself”.
A joint notice from HYBE and Geffen Records stated, “We fully support this decision. KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”
Despite the official statements, online rumours about Manon's exit continuously circulate. While the group has not confirmed any permanent departure yet, KATSEYE member Daniela's father stoked controversy with alleged social media comments like "KATSEYE IS BIGGER THAN ONE GIRL .”
Since the announcement, fans have continued to debate the circumstances surrounding Manon’s hiatus, with many calling for transparency while expressing support for her recovery and return.
