Rawalpindi Police has launched a crackdown against a group of one-wheelers and spectators who attacked a green electric bus with sticks and stones on the Old Airport Road in Chaklala police station area of Rawalpindi.
A total of 13 suspects have been arrested and 7 motorcycles and sticks have been recovered. Raids are underway to arrest the others involved. According to the details, around 400 one-wheelers and spectators attacked a green electric bus on the Old Airport Road from Koral to Fawara Chowk.
Near Chaklala Railway Station, the bus captain tried to save the bus by swerving to the fast track; however, the damage by the sticks and stones had already caused a window of the bus to break and injure one passenger. The police registered a case and began identifying the attackers with the help of CCTV cameras installed on Airport Road and the camera on the bus.
Potohar SP Sardar Babar Mumtaz said that the police took immediate action and arrested 13 accused who attacked the public service bus and recovered sticks and seven motorcycles from their possession. He further said that the accused will be fined with solid evidence. "Those who cause damage to government property and the public cannot be forgiven under any circumstances," he said.
