KATSEYE member Daniela's father faces backlash for comment on Manon's hiatus announcement
KATSEYE’s temporary line-up change has prompted online debate following a comment by Daniela Avanzini’s father under a viral video about Manon Bannerman’s hiatus.
On February 21, Manon’s temporary withdrawal from group activities was formally confirmed. Shortly afterwards, video creator Patty Eminger posted a clip stating, “IT'S OFFICIAL MANON IS LEAVING KATSEYE INDEFINITELY". In the comments section, Daniela’s father, Rafael Avanzini, wrote, “THE SHOW MUST GO ON ! With or without a member . KATSEYE IS BIGGER THAN ONE GIRL ."

Screenshots of the remark circulated widely before the comment was removed, drawing criticism across X and other platforms.
One user wrote, “He’s so weird for that comment idc this is so messy.” Others described the message as “extremely insensitive” and questioned its public nature. Some fans, however, urged restraint, stating that criticism should not be directed at Daniela herself..
Manon addressed supporters via Weverse, confirming she would pause promotions to focus on her health. She wrote, “Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me,” and, “I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again." She reassured fans that she is “healthy” and “taking care of myself”.
A joint notice from HYBE and Geffen Records stated, “We fully support this decision. KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”
Formed in 2023 through The Debut Dream Academy, KATSEYE comprises Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, Yoonchae Jeung and Manon Bannerman. Scheduled activities will continue during her absence, with no return date announced.
