Tom Cruise is reportedly reconsidering his stay in London after a series of high-profile robberies in his neighborhood raised concerns about safety.
The actor—who had been living near a luxury apartment in the city—was unsettled following a string of incidents targeting upscale retail locations nearby. The most alarming episode involved a robbery at the Bucherer Rolex Boutique, where masked thieves armed with machetes and tools carried out a swift daytime heist, reportedly stealing high-value watches within minutes.
The report, citing sources via Daily Express, suggests the incident heightened concerns about security in the area, particularly around high-end residential properties. The robbery followed similar recent crimes, including another attack on a luxury Italian store and looting at a jewellery shop in Richmond.
Cruise, who had moved to London ahead of the pandemic to continue work on film projects including Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is said to have grown uneasy about the changing environment. Sources claim he now feels the area has declined, though Sadiq Khan has publicly pushed back against claims that the city is unsafe.
Despite reportedly returning to the United States for now, Cruise is expected to maintain strong professional ties with the UK. He was previously honored by the British Film Institute for his contributions to the industry, and his upcoming project “Digger” is set to involve production work in Britain.
While his departure may be temporary, the report indicates that any decision to return could depend on whether security conditions in his London neighborhood improve.
