Prince William and Kate Middleton back King Charles after ex‑prince Andrew’s arrest
Source says William and Kate 'remain focused on the victims' and 'support the King in emphasising accountability'

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are publicly backing King Charles III’s response after the arrest of former royal Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
A palace source told People, “The Prince and Princess of Wales fully support His Majesty’s statement. They believe it is important to let the legal process take its course without interference.” The source added, “They remain focused on the victims involved in these matters and support the King in emphasizing accountability.”
Andrew was taken into custody on February 19 at his residence on the Sandringham estate — the same day he turned 66, as part of an investigation into alleged misconduct during his time as a UK trade envoy.
King Charles issued an official statement saying, “We have been deeply concerned by recent developments and are fully cooperating with authorities. The legal process must proceed without interference, and I trust it will be conducted properly and fairly.”
The royal source confirmed that William and Kate are not issuing a separate statement on the arrest itself, but are aligned with the King’s message. “Their position is clear: the rule of law must be upheld, and no one is above it,” the source said.
Earlier, a spokesperson for the Waleses noted, “The Prince and Princess of Wales are aware of the ongoing scrutiny surrounding these matters and remain deeply concerned by the continuing revelations linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Their focus continues to be on supporting survivors.”
By standing behind King Charles’ official response, William and Kate are demonstrating a unified approach within the senior royal family as Andrew’s legal situation continues to develop.
