Peter Greene died from accidental gunshot wound, medical examiner says
Medical examiner rules Peter Greene’s death an accidental gunshot wound

Actor Peter Greene died from an accidental gunshot wound, according to the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s office.
The 60-year-old was found dead in his Manhattan apartment in December. The medical examiner said Greene sustained a “gunshot wound of left axilla with injury of brachial artery,” referring to his left armpit. His manner of death was determined to be accidental, according to reports.
Greene’s manager, Gregg Edwards, previously confirmed his death. According to the New York Daily News, neighbours reported hearing Christmas music playing continuously from his apartment beginning early December 10. A welfare check was conducted on December 12, when he was found.
Edwards described Greene as “just a terrific guy” and said he was “arguably one of the greatest character actors on the planet; Has worked with everybody.” He added: “We’ve been friends for over a decade. Just the nicest man.”
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene began gaining recognition in the early 1990s with leading roles in Laws of Gravity and Clean, Shaven. In 1994, he portrayed the character Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and appeared as a villain opposite Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in The Mask.
Over the course of his career, Greene amassed nearly 100 acting credits, including roles in The Usual Suspects, Blue Streak and Training Day. His most recent film, Clicka, was released last month.
At the time of his death, Greene was working on a documentary titled From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID, which he was producing and narrating alongside Jason Alexander and Kathleen Turner.
The medical examiner’s findings conclude the investigation into the cause and manner of his death.
