Hudson Williams joins Crave thriller Yaga with Carrie-Anne Moss and Noah Reid in a myth-inspired mystery drama

Hudson Williams has officially joined the cast of the upcoming mystery thriller series Yaga, marking another major project for the rising star following the global success of Heated Rivalry.

The half-hour drama, commissioned by Canadian streamer Crave, will also feature Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, and Clark Backo in leading roles.

Based on the acclaimed stage play by Canadian playwright Kat Sandler, Yaga reimagines the legendary Baba Yaga myth through a modern lens. Sandler serves as writer and showrunner for the eight-episode series, which is currently in production. The project is backed by Front Street Pictures and Blink49 Studios in partnership with Bell Media, with David Frazee and Rachel Talalay directing.

Set in a small coastal town, the story follows private investigator Rapp (Reid), who arrives to probe the disappearance of Henry Park (Williams), the heir to a powerful fishery. As the investigation unfolds, he encounters resistance from local detective Carson (Backo), a charismatic professor named Katherine (Moss), and a web of suspects hiding dark secrets tied to ancient magic.

The series represents Crave’s first-ever original half-hour drama, signaling the platform’s continued push into genre-driven storytelling. Industry insiders note that the project arrives after the unexpected international popularity of Heated Rivalry, which helped elevate Crave Originals onto the global stage.

Bell Media executive Justin Stockman described the show as a “genre-bending, unexpected” addition to the streamer’s lineup, while Sandler emphasized its bold tone, calling it a dark yet accessible reinterpretation of a classic myth.

Yaga is expected to be introduced to international buyers at the London TV Screenings, further building anticipation for what could become one of Crave’s most talked-about releases.
