Schitt’s Creek star Catherine O'Hara honored at private LA service

A private funeral service has been held for Catherine O'Hara, the legendary actress and comedian who died at age 71. 

The memorial reportedly took place at St. Martin of Tours Church in Los Angeles on February 14, according to an Instagram post shared by actress Kelly Lynch.

O'Hara was widely recognized for her decades-long impact on film and television. She gained global popularity for her role as Kate McCallister in Home Alone and later introduced a new generation of fans to her comedic talents as Moira Rose in Schitt's Creek. Her performance in the series earned critical acclaim and contributed to the show’s historic sweep at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Born in Toronto, O'Hara launched her comedy career with The Second City in 1974, where she worked alongside future comedy stars including Gilda Radner and John Candy. She later appeared in films such as Beetlejuice, further cementing her reputation as a versatile performer.

Throughout her career, O'Hara collaborated frequently with Eugene Levy, a creative partnership that became especially celebrated during their time on “Schitt’s Creek.” Her body of work spanned comedy, film, and television, leaving a lasting influence on the entertainment industry.
