Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has strongly criticized the provincial government, accusing it of gross administrative paralysis, rampant insecurity, and utter incompetence in addressing the plight of displaced people from Tirah Valley.
Addressing a protest demonstration organized by ANP's Khyber district chapter at Pishtakhara Chowk against the alleged mistreatment of Tirah affectees, Mian Iftikhar described the province as having virtually no functional government. He painted a grim picture of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as a region plagued by administrative collapse, lawlessness, and severe governance failure.
"The people of Tirah have been forcibly deprived of their homes, lands, and livelihoods," he said. "Tragically, they are now compelled to wander as destitute refugees, stripped of even the most basic necessities of life."
Questioning the provincial leadership, he asked: "What kind of government abandons its own citizens in such helplessness? He pointed out that such treatment in the Chief Minister's home district speaks volumes about the conditions prevailing across the rest of the province.
Rather than providing relief to the victims, Mian Iftikhar alleged that the provincial government was rubbing salt into their wounds. He claimed that funds worth Rs4 billion allocated for the displaced persons had been swallowed by corruption, leaving the affectees to continue suffering in deprivation.
He further accused the ruling authorities of turning K-P into a heap of fire once again through misguided policies. Citizens live in constant fear for their safety, while police and security forces make sacrifices on the front lines, yet the government remains a mere spectator, he charged.
The ANP leader expressed deep concern that the provincial administration had risked the entire province for the interests of a single individual. Issues of life, property, peace, and employment for the people no longer appear to be priorities, marking what he called an extremely regrettable and dangerous trend.
He held the federal government equally responsible, stating that both central and provincial authorities are preoccupied with political rhetoric while the public suffers immensely.
Concluding his address, Mian Iftikhar reaffirmed ANP's unwavering commitment: "The Awami National Party will never abandon the oppressed people in any circumstance. We stand firmly with the victims of Tirah and will continue raising our voice for justice on every platform."
