Scott Moir says he talked about Tessa Virtue 'way too long’ on his wedding day: 'She deserves it'
Moir says Virtue is 'an incredible person, a great partner and someone who shaped me both on and off the ice'

Olympic ice dance legend Scott Moir couldn’t help but gush about his longtime skating partner and close friend Tessa Virtue during his wedding day, even after the ceremony was over.
Moir, who married his fiancée, Brittany Haddock, at a vineyard in British Columbia this past fall, admitted during a recent interview that he “talked about Tessa way too long” while giving a speech at the reception.
Though the event was meant to celebrate his new life with Haddock, Moir said he was overwhelmed by emotion recalling his decades-long partnership with Virtue, one of the most successful duos in figure skating history.
“When you’ve spent such a long time with someone, and that person has been a huge part of your life, it’s impossible not to reflect on it,” Moir said with a laugh. “Tessa deserves it, she’s an incredible person, a great partner and someone who shaped me both on and off the ice.”
The two Canadian skaters became household names for their chemistry, grace and fierce competitive drive, winning multiple Olympic gold medals together and earning admiration around the world. Though both have since stepped back from competitive skating, their bond remains strong.
Moir joked that he may have exceeded his allotted wedding speech time, but said his heartfelt remarks came from a place of genuine respect and gratitude. “I probably talked about her way too long,” he admitted, “but she deserves it.”
His comments highlight the unique connection he and Virtue share, a blend of deep friendship, mutual admiration and shared achievement, one that continues even as both athletes pursue life beyond competition.
Fans of the pair have celebrated Moir’s candor, noting that his appreciation for Virtue speaks to the rare and enduring bonds forged in elite sports collaborations. With love and laughter marking his wedding day, Moir’s tribute to Virtue became one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.
