Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man may mark Tommy Shelby’s final chapter as Cillian Murphy returns
Cillian Murphy returns in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a WWII-set film that could close Tommy Shelby’s story

The Peaky Blinders universe is set to expand with the upcoming film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, which could serve as the final chapter for Tommy Shelby.
According to Esquire UK, the movie will bring Cillian Murphy back to his iconic role, nearly four years after the show’s sixth season concluded.
Rather than continuing with a seventh season, creator Steven Knight opted to continue the story through a feature film. Knight returns as writer, while Tom Harper—who directed episodes in the first season—will helm the project. The film is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on March 6, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on March 20.
Murphy has suggested the film may act as a “proper bookend” to the series, hinting that it could wrap up Shelby’s long and turbulent journey. Knight echoed the sentiment, describing the story as the final chapters of a novel while also preparing audiences for what might come next.
Set in Birmingham during World War II, the film follows Shelby as he emerges from self-imposed exile to confront his past and protect both his family and country. The narrative promises a high-stakes reckoning as the character grapples with legacy, power, and personal demons.
Several familiar faces are expected to return, including Sophie Rundle, Stephen Graham, Ian Peck, and Packy Lee. However, Paul Anderson will not reprise his role as Arthur Shelby, and Sam Claflin’s Oswald Mosley has been written out due to the character’s imprisonment.
New cast members include Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan, whose undisclosed role has sparked speculation about a potential successor to Murphy’s character.
With anticipation building, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most awaited releases—and possibly the closing chapter of Tommy Shelby’s legacy.
