Chris Hemsworth may play a suave thief in his latest film Crime 101, but when it came to proposing to wife Elsa Pataky, the actor admits his approach lacked a bit of sparkle.
While promoting the movie, Hemsworth was asked where he hid Pataky’s engagement ring before popping the question. The 42-year-old laughed as he described the story as “pretty unromantic,” adding that his wife still likes to tease him about it.
According to Hemsworth, the couple had already discussed marriage before he formally proposed, which he joked “took the air out of the room.” Wanting to add some creativity, he placed the ring inside a chocolate box, hiding it beneath one of the sweets.
He now questions whether the move was actually romantic. During the interview, radio host Michael “Wippa” Wipfli joked that Pataky likely just wanted him to hurry up and ask already, something Hemsworth agreed with, saying she was essentially thinking, “Just ask me.”
Hemsworth and Pataky married in December 2010, just months after getting engaged, and have since built a life together with their three children.
The couple recently appeared side by side in a Super Bowl commercial for Amazon’s Alexa, marking another on-screen collaboration.
