New movement has been detected in a bitcoin wallet tied to a ransom note connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, according to TMZ founder Harvey Levin.

Levin said Tuesday that the cryptocurrency account referenced in the note showed activity for the first time since its details were shared publicly. He did not reveal how much money was transferred but indicated the development could become clearer in the coming days.

The ransom note, which was sent to TMZ and Tucson-area television stations, demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin in exchange for the safe return of Guthrie, 84. The message included a specific wallet address for payment. Two deadlines listed in the note, Feb. 5 and Feb. 9, have now passed.

Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether the ransom communication is directly connected to Guthrie’s disappearance. Authorities have also said there has been no verified contact between the family and anyone claiming responsibility.

Meanwhile, investigators continue to search for leads. A person has been detained south of Tucson in connection with the case, though officials have not identified the individual as a suspect.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen Jan. 31 after being dropped off at her Tucson home.

The FBI has released surveillance images showing a masked individual near her residence around the time she vanished.
