Luke Combs pulls out of Super Bowl week concert as third child’s birth nears

Country star Luke Combs withdraws from Madden Bowl performance, choosing family time

Country music star Luke Combs has pulled out of a Super Bowl week performance at the last minute, signaling that he and his wife, Nicole Hocking, may be welcoming their third child very soon.

The Grammy-nominated singer was scheduled to perform at the Madden Bowl concert at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Friday, February 6, ahead of Super Bowl LX. However, EA Sports announced on Thursday via social media that Combs would no longer appear, explaining that he needed to stay home as “a new one [is] on the way.”

Combs later confirmed the decision himself in a post on his Instagram story, apologizing to fans and emphasizing that “family always comes first,” while wishing attendees a great time at the event.

The announcement immediately put fans on “baby watch,” as Combs and Hocking revealed in September 2025 that they were expecting their third child. The couple, who are already parents to two sons, Tex Lawrence, 3, and Beau Lee, 2, have shared several updates throughout the pregnancy on social media.

In January, Hocking posted photos highlighting her baby bump and referred to herself as a “soon to be mom of 3.” The couple also previously shared a video announcing the pregnancy, captioned “Third time’s a charm! Baby #3 coming this winter,” showing their two sons reacting to a sonogram.

Following Combs’ withdrawal, Zach Bryan was named as the new headliner for the Madden Bowl concert. EA Sports expressed support for Combs and his family, adding that they looked forward to delivering an unforgettable event for fans despite the change in lineup.

Combs, 35, and Hocking, 33, married in August 2020 at their home in southern Florida. They welcomed their first child, Tex, on Father’s Day in June 2022, with Combs later sharing that the timing felt especially meaningful. Their second son, Beau, was born in August 2023.

As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding the birth of their third child, but the singer’s absence from the Super Bowl-related event suggests the family milestone may be imminent.
