SEHWAN:

The historic town of Sehwan has once again been transformed into a sea of light, devotion and spiritual fervour as preparations for the 774th three-day Urs of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar reach completion.

Echoes of "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar" fill the air as devotees from across Pakistan continue to pour into Sehwan to attend one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the region. Authorities estimate that more than three million pilgrims are expected to participate in the annual Urs.

The shrine of Hazrat Syed Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Muhammad Usman has been beautifully illuminated with decorative lights and digital displays, creating an atmosphere of profound spirituality and reverence. Official Urs ceremonies will commence on February 7, with Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori expected to inaugurate the event.

To ensure the safety of pilgrims, stringent security arrangements have been put in place. Around 5,000 police personnel, 300 Rangers, 100 Pakistan Army soldiers, along with officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy, have been deployed for security duties. A modern command and CCTV control room has been established at the Sehwan Gymkhana ground, while more than 350 CCTV cameras have been installed.

DSP Sehwan said all security agencies were working in close coordination to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Urs. Medical camps have been set up at various locations, while an emergency has been imposed at the Syed Abdullah Shah Institute.

Even before the formal start of the Urs, Sehwan has come alive with activity, reflecting the deep spiritual bond between the devotees and the shrine. As the town awakens once again, the court of Qalandar stands ready to welcome lovers and seekers from far and wide.
